5th Annual Invasive Species Management Day at the Chalet in West Brattleboro

We're looking forward to hosting our 5th Annual Invasive Species Management Day at the Chalet in West Brattleboro.

What: This is a hands-on learning and doing volunteer day. We gather in the morning with donuts, learn from our local CISMA group about plant identification and why managing these species matters, then we put learning to practice by focusing on a specific area on site. We also have a crew that lends a hand to any resident veggie gardening efforts and this year we're partnering with AIDs Project of Southeast VT for a neighborhood cleanup.

Where: 78 South St, gather in parking in lower lot

Who: Are you an enthusiastic volunteer looking to learn more about invasive plant species management? Do you love rolling up your sleeves and hauling brush? Are you interested in the intersection between housing and environment? Do you have gardening skills? If you answered yes to any of these, please send mmajor@homemattershere.org an email (planning for lunch numbers!) and come on by!

Why? This event was inspired by neighbors of the Chalet property who have been dedicated to chipping away at the invasives along South St for years. This has become a tradition as part of our NeighborWorks Week celebration which is a nation-wide effort celebrating volunteerism and community connection. This is an exciting year as this is our last event before site work for the transformative redevelopment of the site begins in 2026.
